The best way to Clean a Futon Cover

The finest means to protect any futon mattress will be to buy a futon cover. There are so many lovely futon covers made that picking the correct style will be a hard conclusion. Another concern is the size of the cover. The depth of most futon mattress can change, but the most common depth is 6" to 8" thick. In fact, most people that sequence queen futon covers end up returning them for full size covers. So, it's a good idea to measure your futon mattress, even if you believe it's a queen, just to make sure.

The first consideration will be whether to buy a spot clean only cover, a dry clean only cover, or a washable cover. A washable cover is the best choice if you've got children or pets. Constantly refer to the manufacturers label and follow their directions for cleaning or washing your cover. Generally most washable futon covers should be washed either by hand, or in a washing machine on gentle, and with cold water using a mild detergent. You can also hand wash futon covers in the sink using woolite, or another mild detergent. After rinsing and washing, the cover should be line dried, or tumble dried on cool temperature, in a dryer.

This will cause shrinkage, and opportunities are your cover will be destroyed and will not fit your mattress. If you have lost the tag on your futon covers amazon, attempt to contact the dealer you purchased the cover from to see if they've a record of the cover you purchased, and can place you in contact with the maker to learn what the cleaning instructions were.

Some covers are made for dry cleaning just which can be expensive and many folks are sensitive, and attempt to stay away from the substances used in dry cleaning.

There are many vinyl or leather looking futon covers. These covers are excellent for people with pets or small children, and they're able to just be wiped off with a damp cloth or sponge. The disadvantage is they can not be cold or sticky to sit on.

Sunbrella covers are the most incredible covers of all. They're sun fade resistant, and water resistant. To clean them you fundamentally brush off the dirt. You can even use bleach on them, and it's possible for you to wipe them off with a sponge with a mild detergent, or wash them and they will not fade. They may be truly guaranteed to not fade for 5 years in the direct sun.

This statement is something which you should do AT YOUR OWN RISK. In our shop, when a futon cover got stained or soiled, it was never taken by us to the dry cleaners. We washed them in the sink with some Woolite, in slightly warm water, and constantly took them home, and then rinsed them off a number of times, and stretched them out level, and let them dry on some big towels on the floor. The length shrunk about 1 Foot, although the width remained the same. That one threw away! The remaining portion of the covers that were assumed to be dry clean only, or clean only, washed up absolutely.
